2 day Simple Wood Carving with Carlos Zapata

£250.00

12th September - 13th September 2026

Design and carve a simple wooden object using accessible tools and time-honoured techniques in this immersive, hands-on course with Carlos Zapata.

Following an introduction to Carlos’s work and creative process, you’ll begin developing your own carved sculpture. On the first day, you’ll be guided through essential carving techniques using straightforward materials and hand tools, building confidence and sensitivity in working with wood. After a convivial group lunch, you’ll have supported studio time to design your own piece, creating wooden templates and forms to guide the carving process.

Throughout the weekend, Carlos will offer close guidance and individual support as your work develops. Alongside simple hand tools, participants will also have supervised access to workshop machinery—including a band saw, scroll saw, pillar drill, and belt sander—to assist with shaping and refinement. The aim is for each participant to leave with a completed carved object and the skills to continue carving independently.

Workshop hours are 9am–5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Lunch and refreshments are provided. An optional drinks reception in the farm house library is offered on Saturday early evening.
